Career options in the wool industry

Careers in the wool industry are very rewarding and contribute significantly to the Australian economy.  The industry for wool has a large variety of different opportunities for any type of person depending on their interest.

WOOL JOBS
In the wool industry there is a variety of career options such as Wool Producer, Animal scientist, Stock handler, Textile designer, Shearer, Wool classer, Fibre analyst, Livestock agent, Research scientist, Fashion designer, and more career pathways.
Wool Producer – Someone who producers wool

Animal scientist- Animal Science is described as "studying the biology of animals that are under the control of humankind"

Stock handler-N/A

Textile designer-Textile design is essentially the process of creating designs for woven, knitted or printed fabrics or surface ornamented fabrics. Textile designers are involved with the production of these designs, which are used, sometimes repetitively, in clothing and interior decor items.

Shearer- cut the wool off (a sheep or other animal).

Wool classer- Wool classing is an occupation for which people are trained to produce uniform, predictable, low risk lines of wool. This is carried out by examining the characteristics of the wool in its raw state

Fibre analyst- Fibre analysis is a method of identifying and examining fibres

Livestock agent- The Act defines a stock and station agent as any person (whether or not the person carries on any other business) who, for reward (whether monetary or otherwise), carries on business as an auctioneer of rural land or livestock or as an agent

Research scientist- someone who conducts scientific research or investigation, in order to discover new things, etc.

Fashion design-Fashion design is the art of application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories. Fashion design is influenced by cultural and social latitudes, and has varied over time and place.
